Dr. Robertson is currently the chief medical officer of Covenant Health Partners, an organization dedicated to improving patient outcomes through the utilization of evidence based pathways and best practices while also reducing the costs of healthcare to patients and third party payers. In January 2014, Covenant ACO was established under the auspices of the Medicare Shared Savings Program and he serves the ACO as the medical director, being responsible for improving the quality of care rendered to this population as well as reducing the overall cost of care for this population by the use of care coordination utilizing registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, social workers, certified medical assistants and community health workers to enable patients to improve self-care skills through goal setting and health coaching. Still actively engaged in the practice of Internal Medicine, Dr. Robertson is also the Clerkship director of internal medicine for the Covenant Branch of the Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine in Lubbock.
Dr. Robertson has served on numerous medical staff and hospital committees including committees involved in the quality review process and the peer review process. He has held numerous leadership positions at both Methodist Hospital and St. Mary of the Plains Hospital until their merger in 1998 to become Covenant Health System. He has previously served as medical director of pharmacy and chief of staff of Covenant Health System. Dr. Robertson served Covenant Health for 7 years as a member of the Board of Directors of Covenant Health with his term ending on December 31, 2015. He has also served for a similar number of years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lubbock Methodist Hospital System, serving as the chairman of the Board of Directors for calendar year 2015.
Dr. Robertson was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University in May 1978 with a BS in microbiology and received a doctorate in medicine from the Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine in June 1982, completing a residency in internal medicine in June 1985 at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center. He then went on to serve for a year as chief resident in the department of internal medicine at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center, before entering private practice in July 1986.
